Welcome to the last Newsletter of the year! As the cooler weather settles in, particularly up north, we’re thrilled to welcome back our “snowbird” members to San Carlos! The community, both on and off the courts, is buzzing with excitement and activity every day. It’s truly a joy to reconnect with familiar faces and extend a warm welcome to all the new friends joining our pickleball framily.
Whether you’re looking for organized group play or open play, we’ve got something for everyone—no matter your skill level. In this edition, you’ll find our full 2025 tournament and events calendar, packed with exciting opportunities just around the corner this snowbird season. Be sure to mark your calendars, and don’t forget to bring along your friends and family to experience all that San Carlos has to offer!

Recap of our last community events of 2024
We kicked off the Snowbird season in style with over 180 people attending our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving event at the Club! A HUGE thank you to all the incredible restaurants (see the middle picture for restaurant owners and staff) who generously donated their delicious food, drinks, and time to support both our kids’ program and the ongoing construction of our club.
Over 150 people attended our SCPC Christmas Posada – Fundraiser at La Palapa Griega. Once again we had tremendous support from the community, which were matched by an amazing anonymous donor. We also had great success thanks to the many donors of the silent auction items. All in all an incredibly successful event. Kudos to the Board and Sue Fehrle for organizing!
During the Posada for the kids of La Manga, the kids had a wonderful time with games, food, performances, and fun didactic activities. The highlight of the day, however, was the delivery of the generous gifts donated for over 80 children in the community. A heartfelt thank you to the donors from the SCPC community for your continued generosity in making this holiday season truly special for the kids.

Dear San Carlos Pickleball Club Community,
This past year has been exceptional for our club. We’ve grown in membership, strengthening the bonds that unite us as a community. Our fundraising event exceeded our highest expectations, thanks to our awesome members. This will allow us to make great progress on the construction of our facilities—a step closer to the club of our dreams.
Our club is more than just a place to play; it’s a source of pride, a reflection of who we are. When our friends and family come to visit, they’ll see not just the courts but the effort, passion, and sense of unity that defines us.
We wish you a new year filled with joy, love, and gratitude. May the coming year bring us health, happiness, and unforgettable moments on our pickleball courts. Let’s continue building this dream together

Get ready for our first exciting GLP Team-Style Tournament of 2025!
Back by popular demand, it’s the Grandes Ligas de Pickleball Team Style Weekend Tournament!
📅 January 10 – 12 GLP Tournament Weekend
🎟 Cost: 500 MXN For non members, 400 MXN for Members
🎁 Register before Jan 5th and receive a surprise souvenir with your entry
📍Location: San Carlos Pickleball Club
This is a team-based event — you don’t need to make your own team. The organizing committee will make the teams or a draft will be held. It’s an event for all ages and all skill sets. The teams will be divided evenly (2 men, 2 women — where possible) and you will play against other teams at your level. Your captain will help with logistics. We play rally scoring. Each player is guaranteed a minimum of 8 games (4 matches). This weekend promises to be action-packed and fun! It’s a super exciting and unique team experience.

TOURNAMENT WEEK REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Sombrero Showdown Tournament & Cross Border Games in February!
Join us in February for an action-packed week of pickleball in San Carlos, featuring two exciting tournaments that you can participate in one or both events!
- Sombrero Showdown Tournament – February 4th – 6th: Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles.
- Celebration Day February 7th (or day off for those who prefer to rest)
- Cross Border Games – February 8th – 9th: A fun team-play tournament.
You can choose to compete in either one or both tournaments—it’s up to you! Bring your friends to San Carlos, book your travels and prepare for an incredible week of pickleball, sun, sea, and sand in San Carlos.

Join Us for the Signature San Carlos Tournament: The Sombrero Showdown!
Come experience the thrill of Pickleball in beautiful San Carlos, Mexico! Our state-of-the-art, 14-court facility by the beach is the perfect setting for your Pickleball holiday. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this is a can’t-miss event!
Meet and greet Cocktail party Hosted by San Carlos Pickleball Club 5 pm at the courts, Monday February 3rd (Day before the tournament.)

GLP CROSS BORDER GAMES
This will be the second tournament of our Tournament Week! GLP Cross Border Games team Style Tournament. (embracing the cultural diversity of our border brother countries: Mexico, United States & Canada! You don’t need to make your own team. The organizing committee will make the teams or a draft will be held. It’s an event for all ages and all skill sets. The teams will be divided evenly (2 men, 2 women — where possible) and you will play against other teams at your level. Your captain will help with logistics. We play rally scoring. Each player is guaranteed a minimum of 8 games (4 matches).

Check out our weekly Event Calendar packed with organized play, open play and social round robins at the San Carlos Pickleball Club.
Here are explanations about the organized groups and events you see in the calendar:
- Open Play is Monday to Saturday 8am to 11 am- Courts are divided into self rated groups Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Paddle Stacking within each group.
- Pickleball Pals: Mondays and Fridays at 8:30am, Mixed round robin. Free to members.
- Dinking Divas: Ladies Round Robin. 3.5 and above skill level. Free to members.
- Hot Shots: Ladies Round Robin open to all skill levels. First come – first served; limited to 31 players. Free to members.
- AAA Pods. Organized group for players over 3.5. Ask Al Dadswell to be added to the group. Free to members.
- Tactica Tuesday (skill-based Round Robin) – 6 pm | 100 pesos for members and 150 pesos for non-members. Ask Darren to add you to the group.
- Fiesta Fridays – Fridays from 6:00pm | Open Play at night; we never know how many people will join but it is free to members. We will announce it when it is organized by the club.
- Sorteo Sundays – Sundays at 9:00am (be there by 8:45am) | First come – first served for all skills levels, limit to 70 people. Free to members.
- Anytime a court isn’t reserved for scheduled play, it can be reserved for private play using Court Reserve.

Court Reserve:
We use Court Reserve to enhance your experience at the club. If you are not already on Court Reserve just pull up on your phone or computer courtreserve.com and sign up. Then look for San Carlos Pickleball Club. With this system, you can easily:
- Reserve a court
- Buy your membership or daily passes
- Check our weekly events
- Register for workshops or paid events
PRO-SHOP & Official Vendors
You can pick up your Club T-shirt!
If you ordered during Nov and December (your t-shirt is ready to pick up) if you missed that order don´t worry we will order a few extras in different sizes for the season for members to purchase. We also have hats and other merchandise.
Consignment: We are currently accepting items for sale from our members. We will display the items at the various club events in exchange for 25% of the sale value. Contact us if you have something to sell!
Purchasing merchandise directly from the official pro shop supports the sustainability of the Club’s operations, allowing us to pay the bills and limit increases of the membership prices.
Official Vendor Registration
We have created a registration / application form for any vendor interested in selling products at the club. This is part of our efforts to improve administration and ensure smooth operations.

Improve your game
Pickleball Lessons, Workshops & Drills Sessions
Improve your skills, technique, and strategy with instruction from our teaching pro, KevinDuff. Click <HERE> for a summary of Kevin’s teaching credentials and experience.
Workshops: Workshops are in-depth, theme-based sessions designed to enhance a particular aspect of your game. Each workshop is two hours long and includes group discussion and custom drills. Currently available workshops include: Movement and Positioning, The Power Game, The Soft Game, Beating Bangers, Mid Court Mastery, Targeting and Stacking (more to be announced soon). Workshops are held every Wednesday from 11AM-1PM ($350 pesos/person).
Lessons: Private lessons are a great way to refine your technique, while semi-private and group lessons are useful for working on strategy with your friends.
- Private (one person): $1,200 pesos/hour
- Semi-private (two people): $800 pesos/person/hour
- Semi-private (three people): $600 pesos/person/hour
- Group (four to eight people): $500 pesos/person/hour
Drill Sessions: Playing pickleball is fun but it’s not always the best way to refine your skills.Drilling is a way to focus in on specific skills and get more repetitions than you would by playing games alone. Drill sessions are held every Friday from11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Participants will be grouped according to skill level ($100pesos/person).

Pickle Smart Academy at SCPC by Kevin Duff: Are you ready to take your pickleball game to the next level? The Pickle Smart Academy is hereto help you grow, refine, and master your pickleball skills in a cutting-edge and supportive environment. If you’re willing to make the commitment, then the Academy is ready to give you the tools, coaching, and support you need to succeed. There are no additional fees other than the requirement that you invest $5,000 pesos on instruction over the course of the season (November 1st -May 31st). Pickleball Machine
You can now rent a pickleball machine at our club!
Thanks to a recent generous donation, the Erne Pickleball Machine is available for use at San Carlos Pickleball Club
Rental rates:
*200 pesos per hour for members
*300 pesos for non-members (plus daily pass).
Take advantage of this great new feature and elevate your pickleball practice!
To operate the machine, simply download the Erne App on your phone. Please note that the machine is available during the following hours: 7:00am to 11:00am and 5:00pm to 9:00pm. You can reserve in Court Reserve or with Enrique at +52 622-162-6652.
