Hola San Carlos Pickleballers,
We extend our warmest wishes to all the incredible fathers in our community. Whether you are near or far from San Carlos, we hope you enjoyed a day filled with love and joy.
As summer heats up in San Carlos, we want to remind everyone to stay safe and hydrated while enjoying the game we all love. For those up north (Canada, US and Europe), we wish you a fantastic and relaxing time this summer. Enjoy your travels, family and friends — we look forward to seeing you back on the courts this winter, ready to play in our Club!
Stay connected and enjoy the summer season. See you on the courts!

San Carlos Pickleball Updates from the Board
Let’s Flush Out the Latest Bathroom Banter!
We are so proud of our new bathrooms, and we are looking forward to the next phase of fundraising and construction that will make SCPC a true pickleball destination for years to come! We are super excited the bathrooms are complete with the application of waterproofing on the roof last week. If you have not seen the finished product yet, the men’s bathroom has 3 urinals, 2 toilets and 2 showers and the the women’s has 5 toilets, and 2 showers, each complete with sinks and beautiful mirrors.
The initial construction design included a connection to the new street sewer being laid by a neighboring developer. Unfortunately, the sewer has not been ready to tie into, and during construction, the decision was made to add a septic tank for our bathroom facilities until the sewer line is ready. This allowed the opening of the bathrooms which we all are grateful for! No more port-o-potties!! The bathrooms have been enjoyed by so many, it has already put a strain on the temporary septic system, which needs cleaning more frequently than originally planned. We are asking members for assistance to keep it in working order until we can tie into the sewer by following a few simple guidelines:
- Please use trash receptacles provided in each stall for toilet paper, all feminine hygiene products, or paper towels. Do not flush these items to ensure the integrity of the septic system.
- Be mindful of water usage. The system drains all water from sinks, showers and toilets into the septic system. Therefore, please be sure the sink is turned fully off after washing hands to stop any water leaks. Also, any showers that are taken, please be quick, to save space in the septic tank for essential waste.
- Please alert SCPC Admin if any issues arise with backups or leaks immediately.
Finally, SCPC is currently renovating the storage facility, and in the meantime one shower in each bathroom will be used for protected storage of club property. Again, this is temporary and will be removed as soon as a new facility is built. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and are working towards having both showers operational as soon as possible.
To all of those in San Carlos now, those who are returning in the fall, or those who visit occasionally, (but want to be here more!) — a huge THANK YOU!! None of this is possible without your support and financial generosity! These beautiful bathrooms are the essential start to the SCPC main facility. Stay tuned for all the fun to come as we enter the next phase…. What will it be….Center Court Bar?? New Parking Lot??? Second Building with the Restaurant??? So many choices! LET’S GO!!!

Tips for Playing Pickleball in the Summer
We know that some of you like to play in the mornings, but as the summer is setting strong in San Carlos we suggest to follow these tips so you can enjoy playing pickleball while staying safe and cool.
Stay Hydrated
- Bring plenty of water: Make sure to bring enough water to stay hydrated throughout your game. Consider using a cooler or insulated water bottle to keep your drinks cold. We also provide water and ice cubes at the club.
- Electrolyte Drinks: In addition to water, bring electrolyte drinks to replenish minerals lost through sweating. In the Pro Shop, we have Electrolyte powder from Jigsaw Health available for purchase — we highly recommend this product!
Wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen
- Lightweight, breathable fabrics: Wear light-colored, moisture-wicking clothing that can also cover your arms to help keep you cool and dry.
- Hat and sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
- Sunscreen: Apply a high SPF sunscreen 30 minutes before playing and re-apply every two hours, especially if you’re sweating.
Cool down strategies
- Cooling Towels: Use cooling towels around your neck to help lower your body temperature.
- Misting Fan: Bring a portable misting fan for a quick cool-down between games.
- Listen to your body: Pay attention to signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, headache, or nausea, and stop playing if you feel unwell.
Play in the afternoon
- We have 14 courts with lights, so take advantage of this and play late evenings when the sun isn’t as intense. We know you like to have your morning play, but evening play is fun as well!
If you experience any health issues or dehydration while at the club, remember you can contact Rescate at the following number: +52 (622) 226 0911, mention that you are a SCPC member.
