San Carlos Pickleball Updates
Construction Update from the President
We wanted to provide you with an update on the ongoing bathroom construction at the courts, that as you know has taken longer than anticipated, but it looks likely that the bathrooms are going to be ready for use by the end of this month. We can’t wait!
We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Angie Parmely as a new member of the Board of Directors of San Carlos Pickleball Association. As a board member, Angie will be contributing to our fundraising activities and I am confident that she will be a valuable addition to our team. Please join me in welcoming her to our board.
Thank you for your continued support
Carlos Dessens, President, San Carlos Pickleball Club

Queremos brindarles una actualización sobre la construcción de baños en curso en las canchas, que como saben ha tomado más tiempo de lo previsto, pero parece probable que los baños estén listos para su uso a finales de este mes. ¡No podemos esperar!

Tournaments & Events
Don’t miss out on our GLP February Tournament!
Exciting news: We already have 128 players registered for our upcoming GLP Tournament — the biggest GLP ever!
We invite you to be part of this event even if you are not playing! This Friday, February 16 will be our Friday Night Live Team Reveal Party and a special announcement regarding our star players, Mariana Fortes & Belem Garcia. The first 60 people to arrive on Friday will receive a ticket for 2 FREE tacos, courtesy of Vive Real Estate. Doors open at 5:15pm. The special announcement will be at 6:00pm, followed by the GLP Team Reveal. If you are not one of the free taco ticket holders, you will still be able to purchase tacos at this event.
Because of the number of players registered, matches on Saturday and Sunday will be scheduled over the course of the day. You will receive your schedule on Friday evening.
During Saturday and Sunday, our PickleTruck will be selling food and we will also have a cash bar.

Member Spotlight
Round Robin Sportsmanship Award
We are excited to announce the Sportsmanship Award for our weekly Tuesday Round Robins. This special recognition is dedicated to celebrating the spirit of fair play and performance demonstrated by our members on the court.
For the last few Round Robins, the Sportsmanship Award went to Daryl Egan, Cara Ross, Scott Donaldson and Jamie Manzanares. Congratulations!
Member Spotlight: Theresa Melius
T, as we call her, has the best of both worlds: in the summer she lives in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado and in the fall and winter, she comes to San Carlos. She has lived here for over 16 years.
Theresa has played pickleball for over 14 years in both places, but she really got back into playing while in San Carlos. For T, pickleball holds a special place in her heart because through this sport, she has gained many new friends, and it is what makes this sport so great!
What are you working on to improve your game right now?
Improvement for me as a senior player is to stay competitive and work on my soft game. I enjoy mixing up shots but hitting the hard ball when necessary. For me, just getting out and playing is what I enjoy the most.
