6 New Pickleball Courts coming to San CarlosGreat news!! Plans are in the works to build 6 new pickleball courts at El Mirador RV park. The San Carlos Pickleball Association is working with local developer Octavio Llano and his manager Javier Lujan to convert the existing 2 tennis courts into 6 newly refurbished pickleball courts. Mr. Llano is generously covering the expenses of refurbishing and painting the surface of the courts and fencing around and between them. The courts will be run by the San Carlos Pickleball Association and will be available for use by the community — for pickleballers of all levels. Yearly membership at the new Mirador Courts will be available starting in October, 2017 for a nominal fee (memberships and play may begin once the courts are ready, for those here over the summer). Progress to date:
The Pickleball Association is seeking donations from the community to purchase wind screens and other accessories when needed. If you would like to donate, please contact one of the Association’s executives:
To round out the Board of Directors, we have three additional members: Deb Forrester, Darren Thompson, and Mariana Fortes. As things progress, we will look to other members of the San Carlos Pickleball Association to lead or help with various committees, such as Scheduling; Socials; Fundraising; etc. The Association is also in talks to bring an International pickleball tournament to San Carlos in January 2018. If you’re not yet a member of the San Carlos Pickleball Association, but would like to be, please contact me (Christa) at christa@whatsupsancarlos.com. It’s free to join. Stay tuned for more details on the new Mirador Courts as they develop. Pickle on! Pre-Renovation Photos: |
